Welcome to the village history archives!

As part of our Welcome to the village history archives! As part of our Millennium celebrations in 2000 a small working group put together an exhibition of archive material about the village. Inspired by Elizabeth Bicknell’s book ‘Isle Abbots’(c 1980 now sadly out of print) we brought together information from a variety of sources (eg Somerset Records Office and Somerset Studies Library). Most of this material is now held in trust by churchwarden Mrs Barbara Rickitt of Brome’s House.

For this website we hope we have reproduced this material accurately but cannot guarantee this. You may wish to check with original sources and we try to indicate where to go and how to consult these sources. There is no charge for any of our information and we hope you may either amend or add to our archives as you acquire new information. In  either case Contact:-
